A Day at the Western New York Guitar Show & Musicians Flea Market

Today was a good day; I got up and was excited to travel to the WNY Guitar Show and Musicians Flea Market held on Sunday, April 14 at the Hearthstone Manor, 333 Dick Road, Buffalo, NY. The Sun was at my back, and a good cup of coffee in my hand. My son and I anxiously got there early and were among the first ten people in line when the doors opened at 9:30 a.m. sharp. In my opinion, this is the best time to arrive, because you want to have enough time to scan the tables and get first “dibs” on any items you may be interested in.

It wasn’t long before the familiar sound of guitars playing and the hustle and bustle of deals being made started to take place. For a musician, I couldn’t think of a better place to be to break the winter blahs that we are so accustomed to getting here in the North. After walking around a bit, I came upon a nice little compact reverb unit called the “Alesis Nanoverb.” One thing you have to learn at venues like this is that many of the vendors are willing to bend on their prices. I managed to talk this vendor down to $30 for the unit. I know they have sold for a lot more, and I also considered that it was a one-owner unit, which made all the difference. I know it will be a nice little add-on to the effects and return send of my acoustic amp.

I would highly recommend to any musicians in the Rochester/Buffalo area to check out this event and give it a try. It is usually held spring and fall, and you can find out more information about the next show by following this website: http://www.wnyguitarshow.com/ You never know what you may find under a table or in a box of one of the many vendors who attend this event. You might even bump into an old friend you haven’t seen in a long time or find that one thing you’ve been looking for. The old saying “One man’s garbage is another man’s treasure” can go a long way at this event. I am just happy to see used gear find a happy new home, make new music and live a new life in the music world.
