RGC Goes on line with its First Meeting on Zoom, May 18, 2020

RGC has not met since February 2020. Like so many other organizations, the Rochester Guitar Club decided to hold a virtual meeting on Zoom due to the current viral pandemic. This took place on Monday, May 18, 2020 at 7 p.m. Typically, RGC meetings have always included much spirited discussion as well as a variety of guitar music of many styles and eras, and being on line was no exception. All members of RGC were invited to participate. The response was enthusiastic with as many as fourteen players at one time joining in, with ten of them playing. There were also several viewers who chose to remain anonymous and did not appear on screen. Detailed instructions on preparing for the session including how to download and adjust Zoom for optimum visual and audio performance were assembled and disseminated to all members before the session by Tom Napoli who very effectively hosted the event.

This first meeting was quite successful, especially in terms of interest and participation. To be sure, there are technical details still to be addressed, much of it on the individual level. Plans for future meetings are now being formulated by the RGC Core Group. Watch for upcoming details on the next meeting to be held on June 15. We hope to see (and hear) you there!

Here is the play list:

Kinloch Nelson, “Lonely” (John Sebastian)
Jeremy Carter, “Moon River” (Henry Mancini)
Sungmin Shin, “Splash” (Kataro Ishio)
